Lecture of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary under the “Lecture Series” of NCEAC.

National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, Jasmhoro, Pakistan organized the lecture of eminent Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary on the topic “Role of Science and Technology to Facilitate the Society” under NCEAC Lecture Series. The National Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry has been organizing the lectures of distinguished national and international scientists under the “Lecture Series” since 2000. With the help of these lectures we serve as a platform where energetic and young research scholars get the opportunity to meet the experienced scientists.

Prof. Dr. M. I. Choudhary is a recipient of the prestigious Mustafa (PBUH) Prize, Distinguished National Meritorious Professor, Director at International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (H. E. J. Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research) and Coordinator General COMSTECH (Organization of Islamic Cooperation Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation). Dr. Choudhary is among the most prominent scientists of Pakistan, recognized for his original contributions in the fields of natural products and bioorganic chemistry. Dr. Choudhary has written and edited 90 books, most of which have been published in the USA and Europe. Dr. Choudhary is also the author of over 1,193 research papers and chapters in top international science journals of the West, as well as 62 US patents. Dr. Choudhary has supervised 98 Ph. D. Dissertations. Dr. Choudhary has been among the most cited scientists of Pakistan in the last five years with citations exceeding 32,300 (h-Index: 76). Dr. Choudhary is the Volume Editor of many international book series and journals. Dr. Choudhary has served as a visiting faculty in many prestigious universities of the world. Prof. Choudhary has won several national and international awards, such as Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.

The lecture was held on 25th February, 2022 at Main AC-2 Building Senate Hall, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan. Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Worthy Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Jamshoro presided the event. Lecture was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After the national anthem, Syed Tufail Hussain Shah, Director National Centre of Excellence introduced the speaker, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary and described the importance of “Lecture Series” started by the Centre. Dr. Choudhary delivered a comprehensive lecture on the topic ““Role of Science and Technology to Facilitate the Society” Prof. M. I. Choudhary inspired the youth to be innovative and hardworking scientists. Worthy Vice Chancellor/Chairman BoG NCEAC, University of Sindh, Jamshoro in his presidential comments appreciated the lecture and achievement of the Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary. Vice Chancellor congratulated the speaker for receiving the prestigious Mustafa Award. Honorable Vice Chancellor said that Prof. Choudhary is among highly cited scientists of Pakistan and won several National/Civil/International awards. Vice Chancellor also appreciated the performance of NCEAC, University of Sindh, Jamshoro. At the end, Professor Dr. Wazir Ali Balouch, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences thanked the Vice Chancellor, Speaker, Guests, Deans, Directors, and Chairpersons, Faculty members, research scholars, students and all participants for sparing their valuable time to participate in the excellent event.

Prof. Dr. Raza Shah (HEJ, University of Karachi), Prof. Dr. Sirajuddin (HEJ, University of Karachi), faculty members of the University of Sindh, and around 150 young scholars actively attended the lecture. The event ended with presentation of appreciation Shield and Ajrak to the worthy Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary and other guests.
